Road Clean-up Committee – 23rd Year Participant

The Blue Moon Cruisers Car Club (BMC), in conjunction with the PA Department of Transportation (PennDOT), coordinates a road clean-up of a 2 ½ mile section of Interstate 81, starting north of exit 65 at Middlesex, PA. Club members gather at the Middlesex Diner early on the day of the scheduled clean-ups. Clean-ups are usually accomplished twice a year – April and October – and the clean-up is usually accomplished in less than 2 hours. After all the hard work participants gather at the Diner for a post-clean-up breakfast. PennDOT has recognized the club as caretakers of this stretch of I-81 by posting a sign at mile marker 54.4. The committee members and volunteers all agree that participation in these clean-up activities generates a sense of civic pride and stewardship. This is one of the many outreach efforts that club members have available to them. Please join us next time – we do have fun.
