Carey
Franklin Smyers, 72, of Mechanicsburg, died Friday,
May 6, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
For many years Carey was
the photographer for the Blue Moon Cruisers and was always seen with
camera in hand at most club events. He will be missed.

Paul Alan Freda, age 60, of Dillsburg, passed away Saturday, February 4,
2012 at Holy Spirit Hospital after a heroic battle with leukemia.
Born March 21, 1951 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Margaret (Charckon) Freda
of Mechanicsburg and the late Arthur A. Freda.
Paul attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and graduated from
California University of PA. His technical and mechanical aptitude led him
on to a career as product sales manager with Blue Diamond Parts, LLC, a
company that services Ford Powerstroke Diesel. For his accomplishments, he
was recently awarded salesman of the year for 2011. In addition to his
active career, he was an avid classic car enthusiast who loved to collect
and restore classic cars and was a member of the Blue Moon Cruisers and the
Cadillac LaSalle Club. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic
Church, Mechanicsburg, a former member of the Dillsburg VFW, and a lifetime
member of the NRA. Paul was a loving and devoted family man, known to many
for his wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. Even while battling
leukemia, his jovial, light-hearted nature remained strong.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Marla J. (Smetana) Freda;
daughter Juliana L. Pierce and husband Nathan J. of Dillsburg; son Arthur "AJ"
Freda and wife Amy L. of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren Daniel A. Pierce,
Gianna M. Freda, and two grandchildren on the way; and brothers Arthur A.
Freda, Jr. of Wake Forest, NC and Mark M. Freda of Mechanicsburg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February
8, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Interment will take place on
Friday in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00
PM Tuesday, February 7, at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.

Carey Franklin Smyers, 72, of
Mechanicsburg, died Friday, May 6, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loving
family. He was born on March 3, 1939 in Huntingdon, PA. He was the second of
five sons born to the late Kenneth F. and Freda L. (Booher) Smyers. He
married Faye Louise (Fouse) Smyers on May 12, just shy of 49 years ago.
Carey graduated from Huntingdon High School. He was an Army Veteran, and
worked at the Navy base as a computer programmer until he retired in 1994.
He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church; He was a member of the
Lower Allen Township VFW; The Mechanicsburg Club; photographer for the Blue
Moon Cruisers, and enjoyed being a part of a bowling league, in his younger
years, taking his daughters to the bowling alley to watch him when he could.
He also enjoyed taking several cruises and a multitude of bus trips together
with his wife. Carey is survived by his loving wife: Faye, three daughters:
Joni Logan, Cumbola, Wendy Nagle, Mechanicsburg, and Cindy Smyers,
Harrisburg; four grandsons: Joseph Nagle, Steven Logan and Dakota and Dylan
Zufall, one great-granddaughter: Breanna Nagle; four brothers: Frederick B.,
Richard D., both of Huntingdon, Kenneth L., Alexandria, and Gale S., York.
All are welcome to join Carey's family at his viewing on Monday from 6:00 to
8:00 at Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street,

Thomas E. Ladd, 69, of York Haven, died
Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Harrisburg Hospital after a short
illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Mary Louise Ladd.
He is survived by his loving wife Karen A. Ladd; 1 son, Jeffrey Meyers of
York Haven; 2 daughters, Lori Buckler of Hollywood, FL and Wanda Diaz of
Tucson, AZ; his step mother, Marie Ladd of Etters; 1 sister, Mary Barker of
York; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and loved by many nieces,
nephews, and friends.
He was an Air Force Veteran; a member of James A. Danner VFW Post 537 in
Etters; and a member of Blue Moon Cruisers Car Club. He loved going to flea
markets, having breakfast every day at Rutters, also breakfast with the
Rocket Boys, and going to car shows.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 4 p.m., at The
Grove At Quickels, 190 Canal Road Extension, York. Friends may pay their
respects to the family at the grove from 3-6 p.m.

Richard L. "Scoop" O'Neal, Sr., 66, of Harrisburg, passed away in the
presence of his loving family on April 24, 2009 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was the widower of Linda Lilley O'Neal.
He was a member of the Harrisburg and Steelton Police Departments and
retired from the Dauphin County Prison System.
He was a member of the Blue Moon Cruisers and the Capitol City Car Club.
He is survived by his son, Richard and his wife Andrea of Tabernacle, NJ; 3
daughters, Tina Boyer, Michelle and her husband David Walborn, and Lisa
O'Neal, all of Harrisburg; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00am in the
Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg with a viewing at the
funeral home from 9:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow in
Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.

Terry
Clayton Smith, 66, of Shiremanstown, went to be with The Lord on Sunday,
February 22, 2009 sometime peacefully in the night. He will be greatly
missed by his loving family and faithful companions, Bibby, Tigger and
Pinky.
He was born and raised in Uptown Harrisburg, PA on March 29, 1942, the son
of the late Clayton E. Smith, Jr. and Alice F. Harm.
Terry was a 1960 graduate of the former William Penn High School and a
United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member for over 30
years of American Legion Post #1001 of Harrisburg, the Blue Moon Cruisers
Rod & Custom Association, and the TRW Pioneers. Terry was a local DJ in the
Harrisburg area, playing oldies from the 1950's to the early 1960's Rock &
Roll Hits.
Surviving are his wife, Marian S. Smith; a sister, Linda Swank of
Harrisburg; a son, George H. Smith and his wife Jody of Camp Hill; a
daughter, Melinda J. Smith of Etters; a stepdaughter, Cheryl L. Baker of
Duncannon; 5 stepsons, Lenos Grant Baker, III and his wife Kimberly of
Duncannon, Stephen A. Orner and his wife Sharon of Manassas, VA, Donald J.
Orner of Carlisle, James C. Orner and his wife Patti of Dillsburg, and
Thomas G. Orner of Camp Hill; his stepmother, Shirley Smith of Duncannon; a
stepbrother, Eric Deiter of Duncannon; 3 stepsisters, Ruth Marie Moore of
Linglestown, Donna Foose of Duncannon, and Melissa Jumper of Marysville; 11
grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Paxton Smith, Justin Steel, Neil Orner, Sharon
Orner, Kyle Baker, Ryan Baker, Ashley Shetrom, Bethany Blessing, Clayton
Benyou, Travis Baker; and a great granddaughter, Lylian Shetrom. He was
preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Natalie K. Baker.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, February 26, 2009 in
the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road Susquehanna
Township. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday in the
funeral home.

Nelson G. Castor, 75, of Harrisburg, formerly of Verona, NY, passed away
Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Hershey Medical Center.
He was a retired salesman from Reynolds Aluminum, and a U.S. Navy Veteran of
the Korean War.
He was a member of the Blue Moon Cruisers Auto Club and the Wormleysburg
American Legion Post 0945.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Castor; 3 sons, Ron Castor and wife, Pam
of Rochester, NY, Tim Castor and wife, Joli of Denver, CO, and Mark Castor
and wife, Maria of Harrisburg; 4 grandchildren, Lauren, Alexis, Morgan and
Amy; and sister, Gail Marsello of Vernon, NY.
A viewing will be held from 3-6 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 6
p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2008 in the Neill Funeral Home Inc., 3501 Derry
Street, Harrisburg. Burial will be held Monday in Vernon, NY.

Thomas "Whipp" Wilson, Jr., 68, of Millerstown, PA and formerly of
Lemoyne, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008 at his home.
He was retired from Harley Davidson Transportation. He was a 1957 graduate
of John Harris High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of
Teamsters Union #776, Lowther Manor #781 F&AM, Blue Moon Cruisers, Capital
City Cruisers, Summit Cruisers, Millerstown Moose and the Tin Soldiers of
Newport.
He also was a life member of American Legion Post #143 and VFW Post #4715 of
New Cumberland.
He is survived by his wife, Ann L. Wilson; a daughter Terry Ross and her
husband Charles R., II of Hummelstown; 2 sons, Thomas L. Wilson, III and
companion Kathy of Millerstown and Timothy A. Wilson and his wife Ann F. of
New Cumberland; 5 grandchildren, Tonya and Robby Ross, Timothy A. Wilson,
III, Skyler Wilson and Thomas James Wilson and his mother JoAnn Wilson.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in
the Stone & Murray Funeral Home, New Cumberland, PA., with Pastor Philip
Cappuccio officiating. There will be a vistation from 10:00 a.m. until the
time of service.

Robert Lee Marvin Stauffer, "Bob", of Halifax, died on July 25, 2008,
after a brief but courageous, admirable, and ultimately graceful battle with
cancer. He was 65.
He was born during World War II in 1942, shortly after his father went
overseas to take a command in North Africa against Rommel.
Bob was the son of the late Dr. Robert L. Stauffer of Harrisburg and the
late "Libbeth" Kutz Stauffer of Mansfield, Tioga County and grandson of Paul
Stauffer, co-founder of Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital, and Dr. H. C. Kutz
of Covington, PA.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne R. Stauffer of Halifax; two sons,
Douglas, and Patrick of Hershey; former wife, Sharon Stauffer of Hershey;
two sisters, currently in York County, Laurie Stauffer and husband, Jerry
Comfort, and Dr. Julie B. Stauffer; aunt and uncle, Betty and Ray Caldwell
of Harrisburg, "auntie" Barbara Kutz Mercer of Delaware and numerous
cousins. He was predeceased by an infant daughter.
Bob was a 1961 graduate of Susquehanna Township High School and Lebanon
Valley College, with a degree in physics and calculus. He also attended the
University of Alaska and West Nottingham Academy in Maryland. He served in
the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. The bulk of his working
life was spent at the former Bethlehem Steel plant in Steelton (now known as
ArcelorMittal), where he primarily served in the process control and fuel
departments. In his retirement, he became a dedicated educator at the
Duquesne University Capital Region Campus, concentrating on algebra and
statistics courses. He also pursued his own education in automotive
technology at H.A.C.C., attaining a Pennsylvania state inspection license
and emissions certification. His many hobbies included tinkering with nearly
everything, especially cars and motorcycles. He retained a lifelong interest
in education on topics as diverse as physics, history, and nearly everything
mechanical and electrical. He designed and built a massive addition to his
home, as well as innumerable gadgets and custom modifications.
Bob was a strong, capable, multitalented and multiskilled man who could fix
anything and was always willing to help anyone. He had a caring and
sensitive nature that left him admired, praised, and loved by his students
and fellow educators. He is much loved by his family and friends and his
memory and future reunion with him is cherished.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2 at 11 a.m., at the
Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. Because Bob
passionately believed in our constitutional right to bear arms, memorial
donations may be made to the NRA.

YORK HAVEN – Paul R. Lomman, 62, died Thursday, August 14, 2008.
He was the husband of the late Delores R. (Peffer) Lomman. The tribute
service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Beaver Urich
Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street, Lewisberry. A viewing will be
held from 9-10 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cross
Roads Cemetery.
Born January 5, 1946 in Perry County, he was a son of Louvie (Lomman) and
husband, Frank McNaughton, Sr., of Loysville and the late Paul Holley.
He retired as warehouse manager at Middletown East End Warehouse. He was a
member of Crossroads Independent Church, Blue Moon Cruisers, and Tri-State
Street Rod Club. Mr. Lomman was an avid hunter and loved attending Street
Rod shows.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lomman is survived by a daughter, Kimberly
A. and husband, Timothy Murphy of York Haven; three sons, Richard L. and
wife, Teresa Lomman of York Haven, Brian E. Lomman of Manchester, and
Michael L. and wife, Jennifer Lomman of Dover; five grandchildren, Korey
Wertz, Miranda Lomman, Nicholas Wertz, Tori, and Lizi Lomman; extended
family, Charles Glenn, Tyler, and Spencer Ireland; a brother, Frank
McNaughton of Loysville; and three sisters, Alberta Hartzel, Darla Gable,
and Audrey Lesh, all of Loysville.

(Butch) Marsh, 65, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at
Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill, PA.
He was a 1962 graduate of John Harris High School, and attended Marysville
Church of God.
Jay was a retired supervisor for Chromalloy, the former TRW, and was a
member of Blue Moon Cruisers Rod & Custom Association, Marysville VFW, Enola
Legion and TRW Pioneers.
Jay will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, great grandchildren,
loving family, and many dear friends.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda L. Marsh of Mechanicsburg; one daughter,
Kelly L. Fillers of Shermans Dale; one son, Kyle J. Marsh of Shermans Dale;
one sister, Joanna Acker of Enola; and 2 grandchildren, Jordan L. and Alec
J. Lightner, both of Shermans Dale.

Charter member Charles "Pete" Hancock Jr., 78, of Dillsburg, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006. Pete was a used car dealer for 49 years, a street rod fanatic and enjoyed antique autos. His greatest pleasure was driving his street rods, working on his antique cars and going to Carlisle and the York Street Rod Nationals. Gary D. Green, 51, of Lower Swatara Twp., died
Wednesday, June 29, 2005 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
He was an office supervisor for the PA Department of Revenue, Harrisburg. He
was a member of Seven Sorrows of the B.V.M. Roman Catholic Church,
Middletown, the Blue Moon Cruisers, and Baldwin Rod and Gun Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and is survived by his
wife of 27 years, Rosemary T. Hollern Green; one son, Patrick D. Green, at
home; one brother, Edgar Green, Jr.; and one sister, Jacqueline Yost, both
of Benton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at
11:30 a.m., in his church, with the Rev. Louis P. Ogden as celebrant. Burial
in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30-11:15
a.m. in his church at Race and Conewago Streets, Middletown. Arrangements by
Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.

Nathan James "Lambie"
Swails, age 55, of Duncannon, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at
his home.
He was born September 27, 1948 in Harrisburg.
He was a retired Conductor for Penn Central and Conrail; a member of
American Legion Post 340; Blue Moon Cruisers Rod & Custom
Association of Central PA and United Transportation Union. He was an
Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Howell Swails; four sons, Brian
S. Swails, Scott L. Howell, Brandon R. Swails and Nathan J. Swails,
Jr., all of Duncannon; his mother, Josephine Koppenhaver Swails of
Duncannon; two brothers, Randy E. Swails and Lewis E. Welker, both
of Duncannon; and 2 grandchildren, Mercedes L. and Victoria M.
Howell, both of Duncannon. He was preceded in death by his father,
Edward R. Swails and one brother, Jeffrey L. Welker.
Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 11 a.m., from
Ronald C. L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High Street, Duncannon, with
the Rev. Alan Foor officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery,
Duncannon, with military honors by V.F.W. Post 255 and American
Legion Post 340.

Arthur W. Wallace, 58, of Oberlin passed away Saturday, December
27, 2003 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran; a retired machinist from
Bethlehem Steel and a member of the Blue Moon Cruisers.
Surviving are his son, Arthur W. Wallace, Jr., of Manheim; his
daughter, Angela M. Wallace of Palmyra; two brothers, Stephen
Wallace of Lykens and James Wallace of Loysville; three sisters,
Gloria Harner of Mechanicsburg, Shirley Wallace and Patricia Hall,
both of Carlisle and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2004 at 12:30 p.m., in
the Neumyer Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap
National Cemetery, Annville, with Military Honors. Visitation will
be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, in the funeral home.
