  Stolen Vehicle Alert

The follow email was received 12/14/2009 and since this theft was relatively close to our area we are listing it.

To: Blue Moon Cruisers – Lemoyne, PA

I would like to alert you about my stolen car and trailer.  My 1941 White Willys Coupe and 22’ White Trailer was stolen on Monday, December 7, 2009, from Annapolis, MD.  The car was in the trailer and both were taken Monday night sometime after 8:00 pm after a show in Maryland that weekend.  For more pictures and further information please see Hot Rod Hotline.  Any information that you can put on your website to get the word out would be appreciated.

Thank you,     John D. Wright    724-309-1046 cell

Energy-efficient traffic lights can't melt snow

Cities around the country that have installed energy-efficient traffic lights are discovering a hazardous downside: The bulbs don't burn hot enough to melt snow and can become crusted over in a storm — a problem blamed for dozens of accidents and at least one death.  Not every storm causes snow to stick to the lights, but when the wind is right and the snow is wet, drivers should beware.

One reason there have been so few deaths is that drivers know they should treat a traffic signal with obstructed lights as a stop sign, traffic experts say.

"It's the same as if the power is out," said Dave Hansen, a traffic engineer with the Green Bay Department of Public Works. "If there's any question, you err on the side of caution."

Ride into the Sunset - Dinner & Dessert Cruises

While there is a wide variety of advertisers that support the Blue Moon Cruisers by taking out an ad in our Blue Moon Cruiser Directory many are restaurants and other eating establishments.  Members have always been encouraged to take their business to our advertisers.  Rick and Donna Meisel, have designed a novel and fun way for all members to give back to some of them.  Restaurants, drive-in's and ice cream shops have always been a part of our lives and history.  Where did you go on your first date in that ole' 52 Chevy back in 1960?  I'll bet it was a drive-in restaurant or ice cream stand.  Rick and Donna have instituted the Ride into the Sunset series of cruises starting on Monday, May 21, 2007.  Where is it written that a cruise can only happen on a weekend?

Next cruise:

March 29 - 7 pm

Glass Lounge
4745 N. Front St., Harrisburg, PA

Give Rick and Donna a call (717-921-8875) for information and RSVP or sign up at the monthly meeting.

Mopar Nationals Winner!

We all knew Pete was a "celebrity" but, BMC Vice-President, Pete Trimble, has achieved official status when he received the Celebrity Award for his 1972 Plymouth Road Runner at the recent All-Chrylser Nationals held at the Carlisle Fairgrounds, Carlisle, PA, July 10-12, 2009.  The long Mopar lover's weekend event crossed all eras of the Chrysler brand from muscle and everything in between.  We are all proud that Blue Moon Cruiser members continue to be winners in the national arena.

Love Story--Part 2-- Update--2008

Blue Moon Cruiser Ron Allyn Swartley for the 5th year in a row had his drag strip record setting 1956 Plymouth Fury on display at the ANNUAL YORK US 30 DRAG STRIP REUNION SHOW held in the huge Toyota building inside the York Fairgrounds.  Ron's 1956 Plymouth Fury was the only stock Mopar from the 1950's on display among the 250+ record breaking cars at the show. Drag cars and drivers from all across the country had their famous cars on display. Bruce Larson's USA 1 Camaro, Bud Faubel's Hemi Honker Dodge, Dave Stricklers' Old Reliable 62 & 63 Chevy's, Bill Jenkins' Grump's Toy Camaro and hundreds more. Ron also did a short Elvis performance on stage which included singing " Are you lonesome tonight" on stage to Linda Vaughn the famous Ms. HURST.

Before and after Ron's performance the huge building came alive with Rock and Roll music from the 50's 60's and 70's with George Nye, York US 30's official track announcer doing interviews and introducing songs. The whole building took on a air of nostalgia with the beautiful drag race cars of yesterday surrounded by their famous drivers as the Oldies Rock and Roll music played in the background. Each year the show gets bigger----don't miss it next year!!!!!!!!! Being there is like taking a ride in a TIME MACHINE.!!!!!!!!! ( pictured below is Ron and York's official track announcer. While being interviewed Ron was quoted as saying " THE YORK US 30 REUNION SHOW WAS FIT FOR A KING" !!!
