2011 Holiday Thank You
Many, many times during each year the Blue Moon
Cruisers Rod & Custom Association donates a major portion of the
proceeds from our cruise-ins, Fun Run, Oldies Dance, etc., to
various community charities, veteran programs, educational programs,
and medical research programs.
During the holiday season we donate gift cards directly to several military
families in the local area to make their Christmas a little
brighter. We have received some very appreciative 'thank you'
lette
to date from those families and we would like to share them with
you. Please go
HERE.

If you have a Facebook account (sign up for one if you don't) we have
established a Blue Moon Cruisers Group site that you can join. The
main purpose of the Group site will be for all members to engage in active
discussion on various topics. It will not replace the current web
site. One example is to post last minute cruises, events, shows, ice
cream run, etc.
All BMC FB members then can be contacted
automatically by email to inform them of an event.

Thank You -
Hi Cruisers,
it was a shot of a lifetime. We had to take it. My Bone Marrow
Transplant was performed June 21st by the best and the brightest at
Johns-Hopkins. I was sent home August 19th with 100% my brother
Sonny's cells and 0% my cells. Looked like we beat the CMML. I
started to feel sick around mid October and started visited my
Oncologist on a weekly basis because my platelets and red blood
cells were no longer growing but dropping. I had to get a few
transfusions of platelets and red blood cells to keep me in a safe
range. November 11 I went down to J-H to provide bone marrow samples
for analysis. Right after Thanksgiving my transplant doctor from J-H
called and said that the cell count was 75% me and 25% my brother.
The transplant did not take. We have a few more options available.
They ruled out a second infusion of Sonny's cells for now because
they are experiencing a greater rate of recovery from a fairly new
drug "VIDAZA". It is tolerated and works well with post BMT
patients. I'm currently receiving 2 shots in the belly for 7 days
then 3 weeks off. 7 days again, 3 weeks off and so on. This will go
on for about a year. The Vidaza hopefully will keep the CMML in
check, promote cell growth and allow us to resume a normal (whatever
that is) life. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you
for your prayers and positive thoughts.

I would like to thank the BMC members for the cards they have
sent me and for the donation in lieu of flowers to Team Dickinson
Cancer Relay team. I've just finished the first chemo, so the fight
has just begun. I will do my best, with family and friends beside me
to stay strong!
Yours
Jean Weaver C0004
